Shamimuddin Siddiqi and Farida Siddiqi Family Fund
The Shamim & Farida Siddiqi Family Fund was established as a sadaqa jariyah (ongoing charity) to honor the lives and contributions of Shamimuddin Siddiqi and Farida Siddiqi. This field-of-interest endowment supports antiracism and Islamophobia initiatives in the community, reflecting the Siddiqi family's unwavering commitment to social justice and community service.
Brother Shamim Siddiqi, who passed away in Markham, Ontario, and Sister Farida Siddiqi, who passed away in Michigan, were cherished members of the Muslim community. Their legacy of generosity and devotion to Islam lives on through their children, including Naeem Siddiqi, Vice Chair of the Olive Tree Foundation, and his siblings Waseem, Naeem, Nadeem, and Nayyer Siddiqi.
As the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said:
“When a person dies, all their deeds end except three: a continuing charity, beneficial knowledge, and a child who prays for them.” (Muslim)
Brother Shamim Siddiqi was a dedicated accountant who worked across South-East Asia and Pakistan before moving to Canada in 1989. He was a devoted member of Toronto’s Muslim community, actively participating in the Islamic Foundation of Toronto and the Islamic Institute of Toronto. His life was centered around faith, family, and service to the ummah.
The Siddiqi family has been a pillar of support for the Olive Tree Foundation, playing a vital role in its mission and impact. Through the Shamim & Farida Siddiqi Family Fund, their legacy of compassion, faith, and social activism will continue to support meaningful causes for generations to come.
